Setup takes about a minute
- Press Open in the App Store or launch RunDog from the Applications folder. When the dog appears in the menu bar, the install is done.
- Click the runner in the menu bar and press the Claude or Codex sign-in button. Approve with your own account in the browser.
- For Claude, copy the code shown on screen and paste it into the popover field. OpenAI Codex (ChatGPT) signs in automatically once you approve.
Sign-in tokens live only in the Mac Keychain, and usage is fetched directly from each service, never through a RunDog server. The app contains no ads and no analytics SDK.
Coming in 1.1.2 (in App Store review)
- Create Runner: turn PNG frames (36px tall, 10–100px wide) into your own runner. Keep the image colors, apply a color preset or rainbow, and the running speed is saved with it.
- RunDog Settings window: runner, notch and monitoring settings moved out of the popover into a dedicated window.
- Before you sign in, the Claude and OpenAI logos show in the menu bar so you can tell at a glance which service to connect.
- Fixed the System panel height jumping while CPU was being measured.

If the install does not work
- The button does not open the App Store
- If Safari or Chrome asks to open the App Store, allow it. If nothing opens, launch the App Store app yourself and search for RunDog — it is the same page.
- It says my macOS is too old
- RunDog requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Update from System Settings > General > Software Update, then get the app again.
- Does it run on an Intel Mac?
- Yes. RunDog is a Universal app for both Apple Silicon and Intel.
- It launched but I cannot see it in the menu bar
- macOS hides menu bar items when the bar is full. Remove a few other menu bar icons, or on a MacBook with a notch check the space to the right of it.
- How do I uninstall?
- Move RunDog from the Applications folder to the Trash. Disconnect in the popover first and the token stored in the Keychain is removed as well.
